South Texas College of Law has long recognized that preparation for battle in the courtroom requires practical application as well as abstract theory. The result is our comprehensive Advocacy Program, which begins with first-year Legal Research and Writing and culminates in in-depth, intensive training in the singular arts of trial and appellate advocacy. The program's success at blending persuasion and logic, reason and passion, is unmatched, as proven by the College's record in advocacy competitions—since 1980, South Texas has produced more championship advocacy teams than any other law school in the United States.
The advocates who compete in moot court and mock trial competitions are our ambassadors locally and across the country. Their victories and awards are a reflection not only of the dedication and talent it takes to succeed in competition, but also of South Texas' unparalleled commitment to advocacy education.
